Seems like lately I've only had a couple of hours to get on the water. Today I took advantage of another 3hr window and hit the Sac. Port. The Port is one of the closest waters to me at 30 mins. away. Given my short time allotted and needing a workout I decided to just troll non-stop to the fertilizer docks, about an hour away (at a moderate trolling speed) then turn back to make my schedule work.

I tied on a jerk-bait and launched from the Barge Canal access at near low tide. It was another stellar mid-morning on the water today and a t-shirt and shorts were all that was needed. Only stopped a couple of times to clean the plant material off the hooks. Saw 1 PB and 1 yak OTW besides myself, so a typical weekday crowd.

Hit the fertilizer dock right at 1 hour of paddling and turned around right away. It was now slack tide and the paddle back would be slow and steady just as I had done on the way out. About halfway back my jointed shad rap got hammered by a 15" schoolie striper. I am always amazed at the fight in those small fish. I think pound for pound they are the hardest fighting fish in the delta.

After CPR'ing that little scrapper I headed in - satisfied with another installment of a mid-week paddle workout.
