Congrats on the butt!  And video was entertaining.  Might I suggest getting a bigger net?  It'll just make life easier the more you fish in the salt.  :smt003

Nice way to jump right in on the first post! Excellent video of that 'but jumping out of the net.  :smt003

If you don't like the bulk of the paddle vests most of us use, you can look into inflatable PFD's. A good one may cost more than a regular jacket but it's not in your way for those cross-body net swipes.

Welcome!

What possessed you to even think of halibut in February?!  :smt003
I don't consider halibut an option until April, generally. Shows how much I know!
Seriously, though, nice job. Hopefully this bodes well for the season ahead!

Hell of a nice catch! :smt007  ARW butts are a special catch.  Not many seem to get em, but those that do seem to slay them!   :smt003

Congrats on the ARW 'But!!!!  and Welcome To The Madness!!!  ........it will start to take over all priorities!  :smt002

I quit my last job, and fished for two months. Lol. True story. I met many other unemployed NCKA brothers on the water.
Killed salmon and WSB over those months. Best two months of my life. Welcome to madness. Some call it a addiction...its kinda like
crack but you get to share it with friends.  :smt044 :smt044

Congrats on the butt! Been wanting to hit the ARW since I've been working by alameda. I use to commercial halibut in the bay and around March is when some big female spawners move in. Gonna have to bring my yak with me and hit it after work.

As precaution, I didn't see you wearing a PDF. Maybe I am wrong. As a NCKA, when you're OTW always have your PFD. Just a thought, TY

Ichiro
yes Ichiro you are definitely right. when OTW life jackets need to be on. I did have it with me but not on. thank you i do really appreciate it. mine is not old and not comfortable and now that you have pointed it out i have found a really nice one at basspro that i will be ordering.
