From one newbie to another, welcome to the group.  You joined what can best be described as a giant family.  No recommendations on a kayak but Headwaters in Lodi is a great place to start if your from the EB.

I've been slowly digesting the 600+ topics in the "safety first" section.  There is a huge wealth of valuable information in there that I've never even thought to consider.  Just keep gleaning from the board.
