Greetings NorCal Kayak Anglers,
My name is Justin. I will be moving back to NorCal this summer after being away for 14 years. I am hoping to move to the Roseville area and am looking for fishing spots near there.
I currently live in Corpus Christi, TX where I got into kayak fishing. The flats fishing here for Redfish, Speckled Trout, and flounder is a blast.
I paddle a Viking profish reload.
I'm an instructor pilot in the USMC, hence the screen name, but I'm leaving the Marine Corps in June for the airlines and moving back to California to be closer to family.
Hope to meet some of y'all ( :smt002) soon.

-Justin

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I have been away since I signed up and first posted, but the time is near for me to be moving back to Sac. It looks like I will be moving mid September, just in time for Salmon season right?

This brings up a good point....what are the seasons for different fish? Where are the best locations within an hour or two of Sacramento? Even though I grew up in the area, I didn't do much fishing, so I am a complete new to fishing there. All the kayak fishing I have done has been in the Gulf Coast waters for Redfish, Speckled trout, flounder, and the occasional kingfish off shore, so this is all very new to me.

Is there a good consolidated source for schooling myself up on all the different types of fishing in NorCal, with a focus mainly on freshwater rivers a lakes? I would like to focus on that initially, then maybe start schooling myself on inshore and offshore fishing.

Thanks a lot for the help. I can't wait to move back to NorCal and get on the water.

P.S. - I recently sold my Viking and will be getting the more family friendly Hobie PA 17t. $$$

Welcome Yakpilot, it's a pleasure to have you join us. There's lots to fish for in the Sacramento area and even better lots to nice people to fish with. Depending on your level of commitment there is something to fish for year year round. Follow the hookups and reports you'll get the idea.  Shoot me a message anytime, Amos

I just purchased a Hobie PA 17T yesterday and I'm super stoked about it! I can't wait to get it on the American and Sacramento rivers and pull in some Stripers and Salmon with my kid.
