I can say this with all honesty:  I have never, in all my years working with West Marine (11+ years) and Pro-Staff (4+) have NEVER come across a broken transducer caused by use or abuse on a kayak (or boat for that matter).  I've heard of them dying from age ... dogs, squirrels & even a goat eating one on various boats stored but never damage to the operating portion of the transducer.  Once in a great while I hear of a boater who snapped a bracket because they hit a rock or a poor job landing the boat on a trailer.  They are serious TOUGH!  Now, with that said ... could they be broken?  I'm sure they could if someone were so inclined to do so.

FYI ... DownScan imaging does work shoot-thru-the hull (waterbath method) with my Lowrance  :smt002 - side imaging, no

From the pics it doesn't look like it fits completely in the recessed area. So it sits down a little. That's what I'm worried about.

Why not flip your kayak over and drop your transducer into your transducer scupper? You will know in seconds if it fits flush or not.

I went outside and checked. It sticks out a tiny a bit.

So I guess that means I need to go to Home Depot tomorrow.

FF is Installed!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice/suggestions and posting those instructions! It started getting dark so I haven't taken pics yet.

A few things...

The underneath of the scupper hole where the transducer rests is different on my yak than the one in the instructions.

I didn't put foam in the hole. I filleted it real thin but it wasn't thin enough. So maybe my scupper is a little small. I don't know. I did use marine sealer.

The transducer sticks out only maybe 18" - "1/4".

I used an elbow instead of of T. I spray painted said elbow red so it better matches my yak.

It looks good. I just need to wrap the lose cables up. I just hope it finds fish now!   :fishing2

Here are the finished pics. As you can see the bottom of the scupper mount on my yak is different that the ones in the instructions that were posted.
