Shelter Cove today - only got a few hours on the water, but it was heaven!  :smt007

Dropped my kids at school, got my gear organized, hit the road and got down to the Cove around 10:30.  After launching by 11:15 we were hopeful to just get some trolling in.  We were so stoked to get hooked up immediately outside the moorings in 30 fow and had several shakers to the boat in the first 45 minutes!  Went on from there to land and release a few lingcod, and David got his first legal king at just around 22 inches!  I shook a couple and released one that almost made it at 19.75 inches - damn!  David then goes on to bag a legal Cali halibut!!  Great day for sure.

Great times at the Cove - had to get back north to pick up my son from school, and looking so forward to GSX!

Dude put in his time, but it was really a good example of the randomness of salmon fishing.

Come prepared to legally take a salmon = my advice.

On those slides,...

I was very concerned when I saw the news reports of "four different slides" at Shelter Cove.  They showed pictures of caution tape at the ramp, but there were no pics of the actual slides.  They also talked of people rescued by all terrain vehicle, but I didn't see pics or video of that either.  That's all fine, but when we were at the Cove in the following days we couldn't see any evidence of a significant change from what is already the case - constantly eroding hillsides all the way from the launch to Deadman's...

For what it's worth, I think a mountain was made of a mole hill, but I do acknowledge that there is risk to be taken along that bluff.

Yeah, I couldn't even tell .where one was, let alone four.  There was a really nice truck abandoned to the surf though out toward deadmans.
