Thanks for all the work you are putting in James.

Seems fair that all kids who caught a fish should have a chance at the kayak.  Not their fault they can't drive.

My only suggestion for 2016 would be that their fish must be caught from a kayak but either way we will participate.

Thanks again,
Josh

I only let Cody enter fish he caught on the yak. The BIG reason is, HE IS! He is capabke of catching his on the kayak whereas youngsters say 4-12 may not have the ability. Our way of leveling the field,  I would maybe suggest that? The biggest thing is getting them out there, but the most important thing, is you spending your time with them  :smt006

I must have been napping because somehow I missed the fact that children didn't have to be on a kayak to have fish count.  Shame on this dad.

Anybody know if that rule still applied to 2016?

No junior rules have been established for 2016.

Rider stepped down and it was his brainchild.

It wasn't really an issue in 2015...every fish as far as I know was caught from a yak.

Jim

If you guys want to make this all about a kayak fishing competition and start putting all kinds of rules you can go ahead and do that.

Like I said it wasn't about the competition for me as much as it was parents taking their kids fishing. I figured if parents weren't capable of maybe taking their kids out on a kayak and fishing comfortably/safely with them then having them just gettin their kids out fishing period was more important. But as I am stepping down feel free to bring on the rules as that seems like the topic of the week everyone is focused on anyways. I actually feel it's easier to catch fish from a kayak so I don't see any advantage to a kid fishing from shore.

Its actually sad to me that were focused on mouth closed and kayak or no kayak. Just take your kids fishing.

Oh, I take my girls fishing.  Probably a half-dozen times last year.  Just haven't put them on a kayak yet.  Would have been neat for them to see their own name on the forum.

It's my goal to get my oldest on the yak this year.

Great job getting them out spending time with you. It's the best feeling and we are so lucky to have those memories.

I wish you would've entered them.

Yea same with Luke, he was able to catch quite a few fish of the shore last year but we never made it to the kayak. I still think that they need to be on the kayak in order to qualify.  THis year I will get them out much more  on the kayak to catch more fish! Thanks for your hard work james!

Hey James,

I have no complaints about the way it was run this year.  We had a great time and I appreciate all your work.

Sorry if my comment about fishing from a kayak seemed like a complaint.  I'm teaching my kid that a kayak is as important as a rod & reel for fishing :smt006

I didn't post any from shore either, which were most of the fish the girls caught but only species were trout and yellow perch.

jaoty actually got me trying to figure out how to catch freshwater fish and got me otw with my kids, it was pretty great.  My kid is still bragging about having the biggest catfish in jaoty.

My daughter and I actually fished a half dozen times or so from the kayak last year.  It was a lot of work with her being the age she is, and some of the trips went really poorly (she's a girl, they need to pee, like constantly) as I don't have a true tandem and she had to sit in my tankwell, where its difficult to help her and she's really too young to do things herself.  It was still fun and I still plan to do it again this year, but most likely will take her out in my b**t instead more often, as its so much easier for her to fish with me.
