I have an idea.  Why don't we have a round-table discussion at the AOTY awards this year.  Most committee members will be there, and we can all sit down and discuss rule changes, transparency issues etc.  From there we can make a few forum posts and try to reach a consensus.

I also propose more transparency for the process by which AOTY-> PIF funds are distributed (Im on the committee and I have no idea what the decision process is).
This will also allow spectators to throw down bets when the fight ensues.

Why not submit a proposal for asking about how the AOTY -> PIF funds are distributed.  Then we can discuss it endlessly on the PIF private board and never tell you the outcome.  :smt044

Seriously... If you went to PIF, you would know we give the cash directly to the person at the event (if present, or someone in their place), and then either cut a check or transfer PayPal funds to that person.  And someone has to manage the PP account during the year, which was Jim, but someone else (I'd be happy to) will have to do so this year.  Have you seen all the updates that Jim made several years to make sure the money situation was completely transparent to all of NCKA?  And if you would like to volunteer for this years PIF, you can be in charge of handling the cash if you like.  :smt002

I'm fine keeping on handling the PIF PayPal if people want...I thought Andy was insinuating I got $ from my work on PIF or DOTY or something...and that pissed me off...but he wasn't...so I'm not pissed off anymore.

Last year was the first time that I participated in AOTY. It was a very disappointing experience to say the least. Since then i have taken a breather from the tournament. I have heard a lot of things about AOTY (Good and Bad) but experiencing it first hand was another thing.  To me, AOTY has become something completely different from what NCKA represents. (This is me). Blast me, yell at me, say i'm stupid for blah blah blah, I stand by this statement.

It has been stated that "If you don't like it" don't participate, which is true, but if the members of this community does not support it, except for a select few, then is it really NCKA? Competition brings out the best and worst out of people. AOTY seems to go bring out the worst in people, maybe it's time to listen and put changes in place that bring it back to the values of NCKA.   :smt005

What a great recap of your experience with AOTY.  I feel the exactly same way, only for a few years now...and always get the same BS response of "If you don't like it don't participate" when I have a difference of opinion.  AOTY used to be fun.

Jim, I think your the best at it and you have all of the A-Hulls complete trust and confidence in continuing to do so.  Thank you for stepping up and doing all the work you do for PIF and A|DOTY.  I know we may differ in opinions, but your a great guy, good friend, and I mean you no disrespect by bringing up the points that I am.

In an idealistic world that would work great.  But it wont, i'm sorry to say.  It's best to discuss on the forum itself.

Don't confuse issues please.  I personally trust PIF, and the A-Hulls.  Some have complained privately that there is no transparency, and i have to agree.  Why don't you help lead the round table at the awards?

We don't mind transparency, but our greatest limiting factor is time.  Can you help us by volunteering yours?

Then let whomever your referring to air whatever the hell they want to know about the transparency of PIF funds in public, instead of going through you.

And I'm happy to volunteer my time for AOTY...  In 2017 since the committee has already been established and all rules locked in placed for 2016.

I have played AOTY since joining NCKA... "Playing" Could I win? Hell ya I could... I could also be homeless due to missed work fishing. Divorced.... Broke.... Scowled at during potlucks....  :smt044 In it to win it is a long hard road. Luck, $$$, time all figure in. Rules are there.... People are in place to keep cheating, mistakes and OOpsies to a minimum... Putting up a poll after the Jan 1 start to rile the masses seems counter productive. Don't play. Money will not be raised. AOTY will end and you can feel better? I'll still play, money will still be raised. Looking at who, over the years, have received help threw AOTY and the AHULLS sub-group, I'm proud to put my money in, knowing I'm not playing for keeps. Allen, in case everyone forgot, donated the proceedings of AOTY to the PIF and put up a second button to support the site (thank you) I know it is winter. I know.... :smt012
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
