You know what gets me about LV reservoir it that all of you paid for it and so did I. And they should let it be that you all can take your own water craft out on it because you have ownership of it. Their rules are not legal and just like the rest of the reservoirs it should be open to private watercraft. I sure would like to find out who the heck wrote up this limited access and wonder what the bottom line is.

This!!!  And for this reason, they'll never see a dime from me.

If you end up going Friday, I'd love to hear how you did.  I've never fished it before.  I've accumulated some intel but more is better.  :smt003

So why would you want intel from me if I go there ?  :smt005
I wont tell anyone if you meet me up there.  :smt002

I hear ya on your view though.
But I have to hook into one of those nice stripers .  :smt007

Sorry about the late reply.ive chase trout, bass,n stripers.trout seem to be best on the weeks when they plant and from the shore the lake is so deep you only cast out about 20'.and all my fish always came on crawlers.its been a while since I've been there.1yr i think
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Ok, throwing it out there again... Trying to hit up LVR for this coming Thursday. Plan is to rent a boat and fish for trout and then possibly striper.
Company welcome. If not , I think I is going to be a Recon Solo mission.
Split boat fee and gas if you want me to pick you up along the way. As long as your not to far off the route. Leaving from Salinas :smt001

My wanting intel was from your intended trip to Shadow Cliffs.  See conversation below.

UG ! No takers. Oh well. Looks like perching tomorrow and Shadow cliffs Friday.  :smt001

I don't know what your schedule allows for but there will be 3 of us at Shadow Cliffs on Saturday if you can swing it.  Myself, Snakecharmer, and a buddy who rarely posts.  It will be his maiden voyage on his Outback.

If you end up going Friday, I'd love to hear how you did.  I've never fished it before.  I've accumulated some intel but more is better.  :smt003

Search around the shoreline for baitfish and any trout busting the surface at LVR. I always fish the north end since I 5mins away in Brentwood. Keep moving around to locate feeding trout if you're targeting them. This was last year in April when I got my limit of 15.5# with a 6# caught in 3' of water! Trout were cruising the shoreline that day. I just use chartuese powerbait. The photo were my first 3 I got within 30mins. The smaller 2 were 3# & 2.5# with the 6# kicker.

Those are some good looking trout there  Deltayakr !! I have saw some you tube videos from the bank as well as boaters. One of the boater videos I checked out showed a guy hugging the bank as well. He actually hooked what he said was a salmon. There website states salmon . :smt007

They haven't planted salmon since it first opened over a decade ago. They need to remove salmon off their list. Yea those are lassen hatchery trout. They plant both DFW and lassen hatchery trout. My last outing I got 2 lassen and a bunch of dink DFW trout. The DFW plants are food for the stripers.

I like LVR because it's strictly fishing and no swimming. Very clean water just like Pardee. Wish we could take our yaks into LVR.

Finally made it out to LVR for some boat love. Wish it was from a kayak, but not today.
Teamed up with a retired coworker and arrived at 640 am today. 6 cars deep already in the line.
Made our way to the boat rental office and paid up. 35 bucks from 7 to 3pm.
Trolled around for not much love. 2 small planters , a 3rd pound and a halfer.
My buddy trolled up 2 lively 14 inch stripers on a trout rig that he released.
Its 2 oclock and we head in to the barn. I am trolling a seps dodger with half a crawler behind it. Looking at my rod and it looks like I am snagged on the bottom. I look at the portable depth finder and it is reading 30 ft. I know I am probably maxed at 20 ft. Look back up at the rod and deep head shakes.  :smt007 :smt007
I had been running my set up about 70 feet back as well. As I am looking back the fish rises and I can see a good size swirl.  :smt001
8 lb main line with 6lb leader.
She swirls and rises 2 more times and then heads deep. Getting a little nervous because I just told my buddy I was going to get a big go home fish before we got to the dock.  :smt005
Baby her to the boat . She dives and rises several more times and my buddy nets her. Almost simultaneously the leader breaks. YES !
Great day all in all. Great time catching up with an old friend as well !!

7.62 lbs. Mount Lassen Love !
