Worked a half day and bolted for the beach to see if I could get a few more points for DOTY.

Primary target was grassies and whatever else I could find in the shallows.

Went to an area where I have had good luck with grassies before and this time was no different.

These are cool fish and look HUGE underwater with their stocky heads and big bodies.  :smt007

I shot 5 grassies up to 19.5 inches (a new PB for me), two chunky kelpies, found a LOT of cabs and took 3 between 19 and 21 inches), took 3 25/26 inch Lings for tacos for the inlaws, and on my last dive of the day shot a monkey and got a 2-for-1 when I pulled the spear out and realized I had shot a smaller one behind him as well.  :smt005

Dove until the sun went down and paddled in with the colors fading to black in the sky.

Great way to end a fun year of diving!

My previous DOTY grassy this year was 16.75 inches so the 19.5 incher will give me 27.5 more points...won't be enough to get me a top three finish, but may be enough to keep me from falling out of top five, and might get a "big fish" award (which are gonna be BADASS this year).

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I tried the same thing but didn't come out that nice.  Your right about the MFE down south.  I got an upgrade and an upgrade for my kelpie.
Saw more Coppers, and Kelpies than I have seen the entire year.

I left Ft Bragg a little after midnight and I am heading back now and should get there next year.

You had a solid year Jim thanks for sharing it with us all.  Let's do this again tomorrow.

Congrats on the PB grassie and upgrade. Looks like it was a busy week and last minute scramble to move up in the rankings.

I saw last night that Adam was in first place. Then woke up this morning and Matt is first now.

Congrats to everyone and especially to the winner whenever that's announced.
