I'm heading for San Diego on tuesday.  Taking the long way solo in my van, and meeting the family for christmas down tehre.  In the meantime......Dosen't look real good for yakfishing along the way, but I way into surcasting a buncha spots.

From Big Sur down to DelMar. can I get some suggestions?  I will try sandollar beach in Big Sur. Also plan to hit San Si.meon Cambria and Morro Bay.  After that I guess Ventura area or Malibu maybe....???

If anyone has some intel or experience for good spots down there this time of year with this type of weather pattern already, please let me know.

Belmont Park , San Diego is a good place lots of parking, restaurants and lots of beach to fish! It's one of my favorite places to perch.

Bushy,

Mission beach is always fun. That water is full of surf fish. We were out one day up to about our knees and probably a dozen times we had guitarfish behind us on the beach working their way back to the water. You will see a lot of fish in the breaking waves there in the mornings and late afternoons. Lot's of perch, GF, small halibuts and small sharks. And the beach runners can be a lot of fun too!   :smt007

This is going to sound weird but Oxnard had a nice surf fishing beach. Headed down there a few years back to pick a friend's yellow tail mount and we hit a random beach in Oxnard and we did well. We each caught about a dozen surf perch, he got a croaker and I caught my largest guitarfish. All I remember is we parked next to a concrete wall along the road and we were able to walk down to the water from there.

Good luck down there, sounds like a fun trip.

Scott

If you are on the 101, The Santa Claus Lane are strand used to be a common stretch for BSP & corbina.
Prior to entering Santa Barbara, there are a number of nice pocket beaches between Gaviota and Dos Pueblos Ranch. I pulled some nice perch and rockies from that area in the pre-yak days.

enjoy your trip!
