Yesterday I received a request from Redding VA to plan a HOW trip in Jan or Feb for 6 veterans with the possibility of additional/larger events later in the year.

The first group has asked if we can go on a Sunday, it will probably be Lake Shasta.

Please let us know what Sundays in Jan-Feb you are available to assist.

Thanks,
Bryan Rusk

Hey Bryan, I would be glad to come up and help out if i someone else will carpool up with me and I had a place to spend the night. Is there camping nearby?

You know I would drive up with you and help.  Maybe to much to bring my 5th wheel for an over night stay but it is an option.  Probably cheaper to bring your truck and split a hotel room cost.

Thanks everyone, we are working on agreement with US Forest Service to allow us to use public ramps without paying parking and also checking with one of the Marina's on the lake see if they will let us launch for free.

Appreciate the offer to travel up here, not sure yet how many local volunteers we will have, shouldn't need any extra kayaks for this first event of the year.

The person at VA I am talking with is with the Peer Support Group, HOW may be very active up here this year.

Right now please pencil in Jan 23-24, will give us a little time to plan. If we do need help and you want to consider RVing send me a message, I know of a very nice private full hook-up RV park/campground and we can talk about a steelhead trip on the Sacramento River day before the HOW event.

Thanks Rob, forgot about ISE, will look at Jan 30-31 also, it's the week between playoffs and Superbowl.

Just got off the phone with Bridge Bay Marina and they are 100% behind us.  :smt001
They will be hosting a number of large bass tournaments, so working around those, and sticking with Sunday's, we have the following options:
Saturday, January 23rd or Sunday, January 24th
Saturday, February 6th or Sunday, February 7th (superbowl)
Sunday, February 21st

My vote is for Feb 21st, but I'm open the other dates as well.  For the 6 clients we'll have the yaks/gear covered locally, but I really appreciate the offers for help.  I think we'll certainly be taking you guys up on that for larger events (we discussed April, June, and October for 2016 as possibilities).  Some Shasta HOW Fish n Chill's are on the radar!

Please chime in with a preferred date from the list above, once we have that nailed down let's meet for a brew to iron out details.

Ben  thanks for checking with Bay Bridge Marina.

I won't be able to make 21st but can be there the other days early afternoon, although Feb. 7th is Superbowl Sunday. Could we hold on Saturday of those same weekends?

Thanks,
Bryan

I have Sundays free, might be able to sneak out on a Saturday. Have a pretty good line on some Shasta HOW dedicated rods, reels and tackle now that I'm full time at Phil's. Any plans for immersion gear or just tell the gents to stay close and be by the bank?
