Also, is an 11 foot kayak sufficient, or would I kick myself for not getting a 13? I know that I don't want to go all the way to a 15. I'd be using this for diving mostly, maybe some rod fishing here and there.

Yeah, the owner of Kayak Connection is Dave Grigsby and is a super cool guy.

Renting either a yak from him or seeing if he would let you store one at his shop in Moss may be worth exploring.

Besides being a huge supporter of NCKA, AOTY/DOTY and PIF, Dave's an all around waterman (kayaker, surfer, diver) and I took him out diving a few years ago for his first time and he blasted a nice Ling at 40 feet.  :smt005

Howdy.  I would recommend 13.  11 can feel slow and, in certain conditions, a bit scary.  Go Cardinal!
