With the super warm temperatures on Whiskeytown Lake this year it seems the kokes have pushed back their main spawn timeframe a month or so...the creeks have fish doing the deed, but there are still quite a few slackers just looking for the right partner to dance.  Me and AnglerDangler made a super quick trip this morning, so quick that he forgot his rod and tackle, but was content just to watch the sunrise and warm up with some coffee (29 degrees at launch time).

Found a few of next years fish at the 299 bridge, and a nicer grade of foot-longs at the entrance to the Whiskey Creek inlet at 25' on the downrigger.  Ran into DrDave on the drive out, hope you got into a few amigo!

Tight lines,
beenfishin

Thanks for the report.  Chris and I were talking about those Kokes this morning when we were freezing our asses off too.

It's not every day you read a kokanee report in November.  Right on Ben!  Those fish sound prime for a jig assault  :smt003.

The jig bite would kill it right now!  I'll be on the river Saturday but might have to sneak back out Sunday before the rain to take a crack at it.  Looks like you two had a pretty good day at the Butt?

Hey Ben, thanks for the report, just happened to look at NCKA before a couple my neighbors and I from LC are headed there in about 45 minutes. Will let you know how we do.

Right on Bryan, you guys should do well.  P Line Kokanator in the 25' range, the channel from the No Wake buoys out to where the point tapers off...that's where I'd be if I wasn't in this office.  :smt003

Sounds like the thing to do, if it weren't for consistent 10-12 pound stringers of spots from Shasta!  :smt002

I haven't fished Shasta since April, pulling on some tacos sounds like a good time!

Yeah, the Butt was pretty good to us.  It was damn cold in the morning, but the afternoon bite was good.  Rainbows to 24 inches and browns to 23  :smt003.  Just can't forget the warm clothing!

Tough bite today, think we got there too late, boat coming in when we headed out did well near buoys early morning, wind was up, some white caps on main part of lake. I only had two hits near buoy, I was jigging, fairly certain I pulled it right out of the soft mouth of the kokanee both times. The guy who fished for bass all day got three spot near pilings using a drop shot in about 35' of water, he said one was 15" or so.

Next trip is Shasta, maybe next week in between rain storms.

Jesse are you still fishing Centimudi?

We did get to see an eagle fishing today, he did much better then I did.

They have been catching what looks to be a hybrid between the kokanees and the kings there.  Cool looking fish!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
