Just wondering. How many crab traps you folks taking out when it's time? I have two of the danielson square cages. two of the cheaper ring traps, and two of the conical types. I was just going to bring two of the conical traps. Never took them out on a kayak before so how many do you folks take out and stay safe?

As many as you can transport safely to and  from the crab grounds; 5 is my max... but generally just bring 4

I usually bring between 4 and 5 Promar TR-102W traps.

Hey Mondo,
I have hauled up a lot of crab in the Danielson or Promar cone traps. One good tbing about them is that if you are only crabbing, you can do a short 30 minute soak. I have pulled on those cones almost filled with Dungees.
I also like the Danielson cage traps. They always never disappoint for a longer soak. I also obught 2 used collapsible Promar traps, used them a times, but not as productive. One goodthing is that they store pretty flat and very easy to transport on a yak.
That's all for now,

Pic taken on 1-5-15 at HMB. Crabbing with my son Jonah who was back for a short time from Berlin. Used only 2 Danielson cages and one Danielson cone trap. Caught all those crabs with only 3 traps.

wow! You guys kick butt!!!! Thanks all for the tips. After reading what you folks do,  I think I'll go somewhere in between. I'll run with three conicals traps. i have around 9 of those bait container cups so that should be good enough for a day's worth of crap fishing. Can't wait :)
