I fished Ko-Ket again this morning using Spinnerbaits and started catching right away. I caught 4 bass in the first 20 minutes with the largest being 13 inches. I lost a bigger fish at the kayak... After 20 minutes, the bite died. I drifted almost to the Ryde dock and crossed over to the east side hoping the bite would pick up. No luck and with the wind blowing me into the trees, I decided to return to the west side.

I caught two more small bass on the spinners before switching back to the Senkos. Before heading back to the ramp, I crossed back over to the east side to try my favorite spot one last time and finally caught a 15+ inch bass. I didn't catch as many fish as yesterday, but any day on the water is a good day.

Back at the ramp, the locals were reporting they have started catching keeper stripers between Ko-Ket and Walnut Grove. I'm looking forward to catching some stripers in the near future!

Thanks Chris. This was my last day to get out to fish for 2 weeks. I am thinking of going out of Wimpy's when I get back on the water and going up the Moke to check to see if the fishing has improved. I will send you a PM when I know the next time I can fish, to see if you are interested. Keep the fishing reports coming while I am in "drydock" (so to speak).

My nieghbors hooked 3 landed one on their tandem Hobie.  Locals are limiting.  I am waiting for tide change, then launching the adventure.  I hope pictures to follow of some "mud salmon".

Now, that is a great report! I talked to most of the trollers passing me on Saturday and Sunday and they all had the same expression on their faces and the same story..no luck.

Barefoot1, are your neighbors catching them trolling, casting, or both?

OK Ricci and all.  I limited on the first try of the year!  No size but still a limit.  First one after 10 minutes trolling from my place towards the Ryde Hotel a 10lb 10 oz. hen.  So I just paddled back to the trailer and cleaned it and into fridge fro steaking later.  Went all the way to Georgiana and into WG marina.  Everyone I talked to was not happy.  Pedaled back towards my place and just as I passed the barges that are anchored for the levee repair I hooked up again.  This was a Jack about 6lbs. 7oz.  Smallest salmon I ever caught here!  So a limit but no bruisers today.

Yes it is trolling most always.  Silvertrons, Monty's, big Blue Foxes,  Flying C's, anything shiny and held own by an ounce cannonball sinker on a spreader or a three way swivel.   I hate to even go out on a weekend in my yak with all the boats, but I am heading home tomorrow to get ready for another deer hunt.  Back next weekend hopefully for a longer stay with the barefoot boat and the yak.

Way to go!!! I have never fished for salmon before (I'm a recent transplant from the east coast), but it looks like I have to give it a try now. Thanks for the rigging info.
