Hey y'all,

I've read some stuff in year's past about there being a "crab derby" at Baker Beach in SF on the opening day of the recreational dungeness season. However, I can't seem to find any information about it for 2015. Anybody know if this is going to happen? And if so, what are the details?

Thanks,
Aaron

I don't think it's a NCKA event. But someone does post a reminder on here about it.

Wish I could make it, but I'll be out of town. I believe the sea forager/monkeyface is always on hand at that event as well.

Hmmm, as far as I know, its an NCKA event, but not sure what that means other than it was started and run by guys on NCKA  :smt004 .

Sorry I haven't posted up the details/formal date setting or anything, but the basic outline is coffee and unloading yaks at 7:30, competitors safety meeting at 830, launch at 9:00am, weigh in by 12:00 and beach crab boil/potluck till around 4:00pm.

This year will be the 5th annual, so we are working on some proper celebratory measures.

@Hapa - sweet! Glad to hear it's going to happen again this year. I'm really looking forward to checking it out. I'd done a bunch of searching and found a lot of old posts from past years, but couldn't find a peep about it this year.

See ya out there!

Tis a surf launch with a fairly nasty shore break especially at high tide. Tide also rips through there so all sorts of crab buoys get pulled under water.
