I was kayak diving in Bragg over the weekend with my boys.  The finder had been working great, but then it went to a white screen and only read a depth of 3' when I was in deeper water.  I turned it off and back on, but then it was like the back light was out.  I could tell it was on, but the screen was super dark.  Came home, charged the battery, and tried again.  Same thing.  So dark, I can't read the menu when it's on.

I'll call Lowrance on Monday, but in the mean time, anybody had this happen?

Thanks.

Thanks.  I did check that and it's pretty much pristine.  I did goop it up with dielectric grease before I hit the water and it worked fine for the first couple hours.  I only ran it while paddling.  When we found a spot and jumped off the yaks, I turned it off.

I also just realized I posted this in the wrong forum.  Should have put it in the gear forum.  Guess that fact that I was cleaning up spearguns and gear at the time had me distracted... :smt002

Ron,

Power the unit up and press the power button once. You should be able to adjust the screen brightness by pressing the + button. Check that first. If after adjusting the screen is still dark, reset the unit. hit Menu/ restore defaults.

If the screen is still dark after that, Contact Lowrance you may have problem.

Thanks Mike!
Well this is odd.  I just connected the unit and turned it on.  It seemed to be working fine.  I went to the menu and to the backlight.  It showed it at 20%, but was nice and clear.  I bumped it up to 100%, since I seem to only use the unit in bright sun.
I'm wondering if I did indeed just have have a bad connection?
Oh well, it's all good now!
Thanks again!
Ron.
