Had mine since the GS8 group buy, and now it's broken.  The red grip portion with button seems to be held in place to the sliding tube with glue (beneath the button area) and a single rivet towards the rear.  It's no longer held in one place (rivet broke??).  Anyone have this issue before?  I think I only used the slider once or twice when netting a fish (salmon).  :smt013

How's yours holding up???

I've had mine since 2011, it has been fine until a couple weeks ago. I had always washed it well shortly after using it on the salt, except after Albion the week before the Open event. It had some oxidation on the surface of the top slider stop holes, but worked fine.

I went to open it when out at Gualala and found it resisted telescoping. I pulled harder and it came free, but the top and bottom sliders are no longer functionally connected and the top slider does not stop at the last hole like before.

I have used it a lot, it's been beat, I'm sorry it's now failed, but believe I got my money's worth (Thank You, Sonny!)

To try to keep it, I may dissect it and see if it can be restored. I might get a replacement if on a group buy and the price is right.

The bottom line right now as I work towards catching Salmon - I need a bigger net.

Netted a hot salmon on her maiden trip. First fish I ever landed with it ripped a big hole in the netting. Since repaired but have only taken it out once or twice since and only for trout fishing inland with the kids.

That's exactly the problem I have.  If you look near the top of the bottom slider on the back side, there's a small hole.  I think that's where the rivet (and some glue) is supposed to lock the red handle to the bottom slider.  I just can't get the red handle portion to slide all the way back on the bottom slider.

Like you, I washed mine after every salt use.  Sadly it didn't last long...  I'll try giving them a call

You can get a replacement handle at Home Depot for less than half the price EGO sells them for.  Look in the paint department.  The brand name is different, the function is the same.

Mine has held up well, but for only 2 seasons so far.
