I'd also like to congratulate these fellas....

Dangling - for catching a 17# Striper on his first kayak launch at Linda Mar - (on the first day of the rockfish season opener)  AND for catching the "hail mary" winning thresher shark during the Paddlefest Derby at the Bay :smt038

Ben / Guitarzan - for catching (and releasing) that Giant Sturgeon at Black point - earlier in the year  :smt007 (biggest Sturgeon caught by an NCKA're to date)

John / JTF for man handling that Thresher shark at Linda Mar - all by himself  :kungfu (biggest thresher shark caught by an NCKA'er to date)

Abking's 38 pound salmon out of shelter cove :smt007

Cafe Craig for making a killing at Bean Hollow in 2006 - his score was outstanding (from Halibut, Lings, Cabezones to Wolf Eel and not forget - the Land Lord encounter  :smt118)

Brian / bsteves - for winning more kayak fishing tournaments this year than anyone else  :smt041

feel free to add more.....

I did not compete because I'm not at that level but I'm happy I got to fish with a few of the leaders like mooch and freddie this last year.

hopefully I will get to cross paths with a few of next year's leaders too!

congrats to all you heavy duty competitive dudes...

I don't believe mothershiping is allowed...see rule 1.

Joel -

Congratulations!!! What an accomplishment. You certainly have the kayak and fishing skills down plus the opportunity to fish often. Ever thought about writing a book? You've inspired my son to join the dino hunt next year.

....not doing the book thing.....but will doing a 2007 calendar photo shoot with me in my speedos  :smt007 I'll be taking orders soon  :smt003

Dino Hunting requires "waiting quitely skillzz" .....that's something your son can learn from EK and DEFINITELY not from me  :smt023

The mothership is just a vehicle to get to my fishing spot. No different than putting your yak on top of a car and driving there. Are we gonna disqualify car-toppers. gimme a break!

Then drive there.  :smt003 I didn't make the rule, just letting you know.  Although there are a lot less place you can fish out of a car.

Mooch-put me down for a box of calendars.

Nice work mooch.

Shortly after signing up last year I desided to spend my summer in alaska makeing it almost imposable to compete.  Next year you will have no such luck.

Bring it on Patrick  :smt002 I still envy the fact that you got to spend some time in Alaska.

Sean - the calendars are on it's way.....I included a pair of my bright yellow speedos with my signature on it  :metal

I hate to be a rule bender (well, not really), but what about the following scenarios?

Use mothership to get to sheltered cove near fishing spot.
Launch kayak.
Paddle kayak to shore.
Get out of kayak and stand on shore.
Now paddle kayak to actual fishing spot.
Catch huge fish.
Paddle kayak back to shore.
Get out of kayak and stand on shore.
Now paddle back to mothership.
Take mothership back home.

Seems to me that the fish was caught on a 100% human powered segment of the trip, thus meeting rule 1. I'm in no way advocating anyone do such a thing. Then there is always this:

Use mothership to get to sheltered cove near fishing spot.
Launch kayak containing fishing and camping gear
Paddle kayak to shore.
Camp overnight.
Now paddle kayak to actual fishing spot.
Catch huge fish.
Paddle kayak back to shore.
Camp overnight.
Now paddle back to mothership.
Take mothership back home.

Regards,
Scott
