Beats what my friends told me to do at BM, which was run behind the trucks watering the dirt to keep the dust down.  :smt044

Ew!  Funny you mentions that, it was an article in their weekly newsletter that basically stated "don't run behind the water trucks & take a bath"   :smt044  They also advised those why fly into the event take a bath before returning to the airport for the return flight home stating "not everyone on your flight came from BM ... they may not share in the same sense of 'entitled odor' that you do"  :smt005  Sounds like a BM Clambake!

I'm glad I spent the time to read through this thread. I have been having a sand issue in my Dently, namely there is about an inch in the car at all times. I took the leap and bought this guy.

It'll get it set up this weekend and post a review/pic or something. Luckily my beater has a 12V outlet in the hatch so all I need is a tank/bucket.

...and yes, I will be in the parking lot trading boat washes or beers.  :smt003

Boy, I was looking for just such a thing to use as a water cannon at PIF events.  Hummm... 40$ seems pretty reasonable!  :smt003

@5.5L/min it would definitely give somebody a soaking. I'm thinking either a 10 gal tank or a lower flow sprayer and a 5 gal bucket. Possibly that is the pump output and not the spray rate, either way I'll be playing with it tomorrow.

I used a Rinse Kit for a week while in San Diego.  It was very useful and user friendly.  I sprayed the kids and gear down, but because I had up to 12 kids on a couple days, I had to use it sparingly.

It says it holds 2 gallons but only says to turn on the water and fill for 20 seconds.  I was dubious of the filling time to reach 2 gallons of water and I'm sure I never got that much in there, consequently I don't think I got near the limit.  Since I borrowed it from a friend, I didn't want to be the one to break it.  A gauge or some other indicator of fill level would be great.  that's really the only negative aspect about the rinse kit.

If it weren't the end of summer for us, we would consider getting one but probably not at $90.

How does it turn on? I mean, does it turn on when you pull the trigger? It seems the power switch and the water release are two separate mechanisms. I'm interested to know if you turn on the power without releasing the water, would it damage the motor or the pipes? I'm also interested in knowing how strong it is. I know it says 5.5L/m, but that doesn't tell me the strength of the stream.

It's most likely an "on demand" pump which will build up line pressure & shut off once that pressure is met.  Turns back on once it senses a drop in line pressure (ie. pulling the trigger).

I couldn't find a review of the exact product but this video of a very similar one seems to operate as you describe. Actually it looks nearly identical.

The one in the video calls itself a 60W and the one I ordered is an 80W, so hopefully I'll have the same or greater strength spray. Looks like plenty of water to knock off a little salt and sand. Like I said I opted for Saturday delivery and I'll do all the testing and post something when it gets here.

Thanks for the info guys. For $40 you get a whole kit with a smart pump. My little 5AH LiPo would power the 80w pump for ~45 minutes. I guess I have no choice but to build me one  :smt003

The RinseIT kit seems like a decent idea, but I believe the pressure will decrease as it empties out. I also don't like the fact you have to fill up with that adapter. I have one of those HomeDepot hand pump tank for pesticide. I'm not impressed with it. Too much work, too little output, and pressure drops very quickly.

Got mine today, computer is being a bastard about the video so you'll have to read some. :smt013 Basically it is the same set-up as the earlier vid. Not quite the same power as your garden hose but far better than a pump sprayer. I had to do some fiddling to get the fittings to get them to stop leaking. But Basically I think 5 gal bucket and the pump/sprayer and you are good to spray off the boat, wet-suit, wheeleez, car hood, fish etc..

  It's gonna be handy!

Thanks for the info SeaGoat. One last question, does that pump require manual priming?
