I chose me but I work at a tackle shop so I wasn't sure what to chose.  Winding line I have seen alot of bad jobs done by other shops.  The most common mestake i see is no backing under spectra.  If you have a mitchell 300 make sure that the person winding the line knows that it has to be wound in reverse. PLEASE PLEASE NEVER TAKE YOUR REELS TO BIG 5

I took my reel to outdoor pro in oakland when they had some sale on mono line for something like 1cent per yard or something like that. Well I have braid backing that never got exposed or used, so it just tightened up on itself. The guys at outdoor pro, asked who did my line and why they put it on all messed up. I told him the line was put on properly, it just hasn't been used and tighten on itself. Then they made fun of my 30 lb. mono backing under my 65lb braid backing. They asked what it's for. I told them so the braid won't slip and/or the braid won't tighten up on my spool and tweak it. They just laughed and made fun of it. They mentioned they now have a knot that won't let the braid slip on the spool. And acted like everyone knew about this knot. I watched them do it, it looks like they just wrap the hecc out of the spool with the braid.  I haven't been bacc to that shop.

There is no knot that will properly hold braid on a spool.  I wouldn't go back to that shop either.  Any place that insults a customer does not deserve your business.  I might have even called a manager....

I take no shiit from employees, I always let 'em have it and if they return lip I escalate to the manager.

sometimes the manager throws me out of course...  :smt005

pat is a nice guy tho. and they don't finish last so I wouldn't worry about it.

I put some tape on the spool if it is smooth before putting the braid on.

Joe, at Western sports in San Rafael is the spooling pro as far as Im concerned, mono backing with some kind of 30 twist mono to spectra knot and some kind of special line glue, it takes a while and he shoots the shit the whole time, but damn its one strong knot, nice guy and knows a few of us ncka'ers. He set me up for a few turnys where I placed top 3, in line and tackle, so if your in the Marin area, give him a try and tell him your one of those hard-core 'yakers and he'll set you up like a friend.
