Im looking at the Plano 1612 and 3 rod holder combo to put in back of my 2015 Outback. Would like to see what others have done to hold them in, placement, etc.

Usually I secure pad eyes to yak and box.  Then I loop bungee through eyes on box attach clip and stretch bungee to attach to yak pad eyes.  Having trouble inserting photo.  TTalk keeps quitting.

This is the 1812 model in my '08 Outback.

What you can't see is that I placed a pad eye between the seat and tank well so it's anchored in 3 places.  It was a b*tch to get the 3rd pad eye there because I wanted nuts and bolts and not rivets but I got 'er done.

This picture might better explain the black bungee cord behind the rod holders as well as show the 3rd pad eye.

Ultimately these photos were taken to show how I got rid of some of the bungee in the tank well but if it helps you out also, great.

If you want a bomb proof way of mounting your plano box i.e. rollover proof. I used a pair of SS turnbuckles for the tighteners that hook through SS eyelets riveted onto the sides of the box and the inside of the rear well. Mount the eyelets where you can hook the turn buckle through and then tighten it down till the box is snug. It won't move an inch, even when you tilt the boat on it's side.

I know its not an Outback, but here is what I did… the krakens kkrate mounts this way. Its huge and don't need it every time I am out OTW.  I wanted the 1612 to mount the same way so I made some brackets out if ABS plastic. yak attack hardware keeps it in place.

I'm probably going to steal Michael's setup for my OB  :smt007  And boy, that rail mounted idea is SICK for the Jackson ybloc!   :smt003

I don't have a pic of it, but I did something similar to the Kracken mount only a little more ghetto.

Simple yak attack 4 inch brackets front and rear, 1 large ram mount
1 small, 4ea  2 inch "L" brackets. SS Hardware, and rivets.

The Knife was a cheapo I picked up at either Hi's or Outdoor Pro Shop.  Fit in there by chance.

Here's how I do it on my 2015 Revo 13 and my AI.  It should work on an Outback.

I already had clips on my box and used the stock bungees to attach to for the trip this weekend. Worked well in the position like Fishingaddict shows. Now just need to get a permanent mount installed. Im thinking about spacing it back a little to allow a space in front of it to store some things to make it easy to just reach back n grab them.

I put extra cord.  So I can stick a Hobie Scupper Cart and Plano box slides out the way.  I've had this set up since 2009 and its survived a couple of yard sales.

so, are you saying you put bungee-or just cord- to hold it forward(by looks of your pic) and then it can be pushed back to put scupper cart in the holes while it is already clipped in?? That's an idea for sure.

Not meaning to high jack the thread...I meant ask,  where do you put your fish in the revo 13 with the tank well full?

I meant make the cord long enough so the Plano can slide backwards to accommodate a Hobie Scupper plug that sticks out.

If I want it stay in place I put a bungee around it.  This from my older Revo
