I don't usually post stuff like this but this has really been affecting me. I could hardly concentrate at work yesterday with Madyson Middleton  missing. Last night we got the worst possible news.

This hits particularly close to home for me with Maddy being so close in age to Aubrey. She lived 5 minutes from my house. One minute riding her scooter, then she is gone. This is my absolute worst nightmare as a parent. I hope this at least brings closure to the family, which is better than just not knowing what happened to your baby, but we were all hoping for a different outcome.

RIP little Maddy :(

She apparently was going to the Boys and Girls Club in Santa Cruz, which we also send Quinn too.  The area she disappeared from is one that I would consider safe, but look what happened...  :smt010  So very sad to hear...  :smt009

my office is just down the river, and we had search & rescue combing the levy banks yesterday, with helicopters hovering overhead for most of the morning.
I was really hoping she had gotten lost & would be found safe.
this is a terrible ending.

What a horrible news, its definitely worse for parent on every possible way, my wife is over protective not a sec will let my son and grand daughter leave her sight, I always get upset but now I think thats a good thing, I can never imagine going through something like this. My heart goes to family. I hope they find peace in time like this.

I felt physically ill last night when this came on the 10:00 news. Even the News anchors who report horrible news daily were visibly shaken. I raised 2 daughters who have made it out into the world to do fantastic things. I still look for their text in the evening to let me know they are safe and after last night's news I called and told them I loved them. Don't miss that opportunity.

Her father should get to exact whatever punishment he sees fit to the perpetrator. 100% serious.

I too was stunned by this outcome.  One of our friends is part of the Sherriff S and R team working that search.  Parent's worst nightmare.  She attended the school where my wife is a teacher.  Our S/R friend is also a teacher there, with two young boys of her own.

Santa Cruz is way overdue for a major housecleaning.  The area is NOT safe. In fact is the epicenter of scumbag occupation.  I even feel the need for a weapon while steelhead fishing 1/4 mile from that spot, and not just for mountain lions.  Even her mother said Maddy knew  "not to go behind the buildings."  Because it is "a heroin highway" back there.

My thoughts and prayers go to those poor parents and all who knew and loved Maddy.
