I have been looking at the Reserveamerica.com site for Salt Point.  Like someone mentioned before, Woodside appears to close early September.  Upon October first, Gerstle Cove goes from "A" to "W" AKA Walk Up.  I am assuming this means first come first served.  Is my assumption correct?  Anyone have experience with first come first serve in this campground? If I were to arrive 7pm on a Friday night, would I be SOL on a site?

Appreciate any intel! Thanks!

According to ReserveAmerica, Woodside closes on Sept 7 this year, sucks for the fall, Gerstle open all year.  And yeah Woodside is tops for the area.
Wow, that's so early. Bummer. Thanks for the heads up !

I camped there last week. Ranger said Woodside is closing permanently. It is now closed to reservations and will not reopen unless they decide to find some funding somewhere. There are several other campgrounds that will suffer the same fate if we don't act. Call your state representative and complain.  It was awesome and should remain open but god knows they need the money to fund welfare. No reductions there.

That sucks BIG TIME !!! Woodside is one of my favorite campgrounds along the coast. That's terrible news.

At least on ReserveAmerica, Woodside seems to still be open to reservations thru Sept 7. I went all the way thru the reserve process but cancelled before paying to test it out.  Still, all that means is the computer program still thinks it's open.

Mixed messages from state park staff isn't anything new, especially when things are unsettled.  I called the district office last week when the question first came up and they seemed pretty short on specifics of what's going on.

In the past as the season winds down they close the top section of Woodside for awhile, then the lower section, and just have Gerstle open.
