Maybe, maybe not; but the Wragg fire and the Kyburz fire were both started by vehicles.
I decided today to be proactive and went out and purchased two fire extinguishers; one for each vehicle.
I can't help thinking that if maybe one of the vehicles involved or maybe if the first vehicle to come upon either of these had a fire extinguisher possibly one ot both of these could have been prevented.
I at least want to be prepared in case I'm ever in either situation.
For $20 a pop it's worth the investment to me.

The cars caught in the San Bernardino freeway fire certainly would have benefitted from having extinguishers.

I had one mounted in the trunk of all my cars.  Trying to find a good location inside my truck for one.  WELL worth the investment, even if it isn't YOUR vehicle on fire.  At the very least, you can slow a fire to allow enough time to get someone out if needed.  Remember to get a Type ABC.

I put out a fire in the City once with one and they refilled it said they would replace but a refill was great. I'm sure I saved the city many times more than that.

The cars didn't start the fire.

I want to know where those people ran to. Boggles the mind, fires move very fast. Did they just run down the road, and what if some elderly people were in the mess. Seems to me insted of having people stopping in the path. The freeway should have been stopped up the road and the people in danger encouraged to do 75. There had to be a way to do this in both directions. I hope people learned from this. When on the freeway Pay attention to as much as possible. I know this road and 75 is is very doable, even by an old fart like me. Of course this is an after the fact comment. But I still want to know where these people were told to run.

1 in each car, 2 in the RV, three in the house, one in the garage.

My wife freaked out one day after we had two friends lose houses last winter to fire and bought 20 of the things, put them all over and gave some away.

The cars caught in the San Bernardino freeway fire certainly would have benefitted from having extinguishers.

Could not have hurt, but that fire when it hit those cars was RIPPING full head of steam and a couple engines on scene could not stop it and this was burning in a Scar from last season with a fire in the same location.

As for the freeway being closed it was a traffic jam to start that area has a ton of construction due to a widening project and gets backed up daily there.

We got lucky that first night that the humidity came up cause it had lots of weeds to burn still. Got lucky it stopped where it did.

yes sir!!!

also,  1 year is of course the expiration etc.. etc..  but after expiration, knock it with a rubber mallet to loosen up the cake powder that is inside.

the general thought is doing this every 6 months or so will keep a fire extinguisher good for 6 years…

but that is a gamble…  no peer oriented studies…    :smt009

On another note, I did not see this particular footage, but I can tell you on route to an assignment on a campaign ..

we ran into a Monster…  we were doing 60 MHP trying to out run the Head and LOSING!!!   :smt100

I think it was the National Forest Service that direct us to where they were and it was some sort of spot where they knew the head of the fire would run another way…

we could not see it as the smoke was so thick, but it sounded like a series of bombs going off Like the Roar of God...…

Never felt so Helpless, you had to give up being frightened long ago….

Friggen Wild Animals these fires and best to get out the friggen way ASAFP….
