I'm heading down for business and may have some time to do a little Christmas shopping. I know SD is big time kayak territory, but I'm not familiar with any shops down there. Anybody have a recommendation?

Thanks,

Camp

Check out Allen's Kayaks.  They have always been good to me.

They are down right across the street from the roller coaster.

Camp- the #1 kayak shop in the country Aqua-Adventures is located in Mission Bay. They have a retail shop with the largest boat selection in the west. They can set you up for a tour, rental, gifts etc...

La jolla is the best spot for easy access to prime fishing grounds. watch the winter surf launches.

Welcome to fishing kayak central. Which shops speak kayak fishing? There are several to choose from in SD, and most offer FREE demos so its one stop shopping. But its alwasy better to buy from your local kayak fishing dealer.  :smt001

OEX is the shop just off Rosecrans near West Marine. Very knowledgable, good accessories selection. Malibu kayaks here. Rentals near SD Bay and possibly at their La Jolla shop. Call and ask. http://www.oeexpress.com/kayak-fishing.html

There's an excellent Hobie dealer at Mission Bay: Fastlane Sailing Center. Check out the new 14' Revolution. http://www.fastlanesailing.com/kayak_fishing.html

Looking for Cobra. Head over to San Diego Sailing / Kayak Center on Mission Bay and say hello to Rick Hoolko. Good loaner program but he can't rent - but the guys next door can. Good accessories selection. http://www.kayaksforsale.com/website444_001.htm

For Ocean Kayak products check out Allens Kayaks. Also on Mission Bay. They're web was down earlier today but here it is anyhow:  http://www.allenskayaks.com/ Rental fishing yaks.

Aqua Adventures has a broad selection, and rentals too. More of a paddling shop than a fishing stop, but good people none the less. Can you guess where? Mission Bay! Tremendous selection of kayak accessories, maybe less so on the fishing end. Your source for Wilderness Systems and lots of others. http://www.aqua-adventures.com/

I'm in SD and know all of these shops well. We're lucky to have so many great paddle people in the biz.

Thanks for the info. I hit up Aqua Adventures for some very nice browsing. My xmas list got a little bigger. I'll hit up the other on my next trip down. And come spring and summer, maybe I'll be able to squeeze in a fishing trip.
