So...The Project which is on file under Craftsman in the forum had to evolve. I did my best to maintain the SIK low center of gravity while using the Mirage drive but could never get the leg/pedal angle just right. Also, despite building a spray skirt to cover a big open cockpit I continued to worry about taking a big wave over the side and having to deal with a lot of water. My four hour ocean test a few weeks ago convinced me a change was needed so I foam filled the hull to a depth of six inches and sloped it so all water would drain out the drive hole. In essence it is now a SOT. I used 3/4 of a sheet of urethane 2 inch rigid insulation foam and spray foam for cracks and the sides. The rigid foam was easy to work, the canned spray stuff was a pita big time to shape then glass. No more of that. The final surface is very functional but a bit rougher than I like but my time quota was exceeded.

Four hours off SWN today and the yak passed the test nicely. Took a small one over the side and the water ran right out. Center of gravity is higher so my small outriggers were needed. Seat was very passable for comfort and legs and drive matched well. I didn't push it to the max for speed in that a few days ago on Salmon Creek I put every bit of power I had on several runs. Final run snapped the cable that connects to the chain. I plan to replace four cable/chains and two cables on my two drives. No need to five miles away offshore and have to deal with that.

Caught a few fish and looked at a nice mola mola then upon getting ready to land I notice no paddle in the holder. Hobie paddle floating north fast so look for it in Albion when you guys get up there. Still tuning smaller stuff but it actually worked quite well. Lighter, faster and drier than my Adventure.
