kayak tourney ?

are there any really competetive kayak tourneys  around here?
it seams a lot are very family orientated. im a very competitive person.
i dont fish to relax. im on a hunt. always trying to improve and win.
. i have shot competetive pistol for 15 years
and i know that the liesure and the serious can co exsist.

Are you looking for fresh water or saltwater?  I'm the same way and absolutely live for the competition!!  I do mostly bass tournaments and there is the Western Kayak Bass Series, Yak-A-Bass NorCal, and also Bass-N-Tubes allows kayaks to compete as well.  The first two are CPR tournaments but the BNT events require a livewell since they do live weigh ins of your top five fish.

Every tournament has a competitive side to it.'  You'll see those guys launching a crack o' dawn and fishing to the last minute.  But they all have a social side to them as well.

i understand.  there s a tourney i was looking forward to. and the first few pages of the thread seam to not want competetive fisherman there.

When I go to a tourney I plan to win. I don't care what tourney it is. I also go to have fun and hang with friends, but not during the competition. Whatever tourney you are referencing there will be serious competitors at I guarantee it. Don't expect it to be easy if you show up.

im the same way , i dont talk on the water and its nice to know theres people like me out there, did not want to be the only one.

There are lots of competitive folks on the boards, but our love of competition sometimes rubs people the wrong way.


I like competitive folk, and I will be happy to catch bigger fish than you at the next tourney. 

I WANT TO WIN (a place at the front of the line at the potluck) We are all levels of ability here... former bass pro's, weekenders, newbies... All I ask is that if it's cash, gear or just bragging rights you win, Be gracious about it... thank the sponsors. thank the organizer. and above all else... bring grub for the pot luck!!!!!

I think everyone wants to win. But we all win with the friendships and information traded. If I don't win I make sure I have a good time and learn from that loss. I think what is meant here on the competition vs just having fun, is if your not sociable! Maybe these tournaments are not for you. That is what I'm reading into this conversation and the tournament your talking of. I assume it is the Albion tournament. Last yr was my first I had fun I did not win a thing! even in the raffle. But I had a great time and saw some of you down here for the Cambria Slam Down. Now being called the Central Coast Slam Down.
