So this past weekend Str8fishing, Cabeza de Martillo and son, Fishworks and I dove Albion.
As I was taking a leak in one of the pit toilets prior to my dive and I looked to my right and sitting on the TP roll was what looked like a leather check register.
Finished my business and picked it up thinking there might be a check book inside.
I opened it up and it was a huge ass wallet. You'd think it belonged to a woman because of all the credit cards inside.
Then I found the money. $100, $200, $300, $20, $40, $60, $80....I stopped counting.
Anyone could have easily taken out the $$ and tossed the wallet in the $hitter.
Not wanting anyone to do that to me I went into the parking lot and started yelling, "I'm looking for Richard McCready! Richard McCready! I'm looking for Richard McCready!"
Kind of like I was pissed at the guy. But I figured no one would approach me if it wasn't him by acting that way.
Three guys asked what I wanted with him.
"Are you Richard McCready?"
No, What do you want with him?
Do you know him?
Yea.
How?
He's our friend.
Where is he?
He's out diving.
Is he coming in soon?
What do you want with him?
All three of you know him?
Yea, what's this about?
Nothing, I just found his wallet in the $hitter.
He's not the brightest. Thanks.
That's when I knew they were really his friend.
Gave them the wallet and went on my way.
After my dive I went to their vehicle and said, "Someone here owes m a beer!" And damn it all if all they had was Coors Light! :smt044
He was very thankful.
I just told him to pay it forward.
Could have easily paid for my trip, but it is SO much rewarding to do the right thing.
PIF!

Right on Mike! :thumleft:

I was fishing the coast a few weeks ago and was driving along when I saw a wallet laying in the middle of Hwy 1. I immediately pulled over in a turnout and ran back to grab it. Low and behold same scenario full of cash, credit cards, drivers license ,ETC. The guy was from Santa Rosa and come to find out the guy lived close to VK so I gave it to him to return to the guy.

Good on you Mike!
Nothing worse than that "oh shit" feeling when you've lost your wallet or keys.
Coors though? Really?

I had the same thing happen. Found a wallet on the ground as I was pumping gas. He had just cashed his paycheck. I wasn't gonna leave it with the attendant. As I pulled to the side I saw a Hispanic guy working on his car as I walked up I asked are you Hector? He looked at me like I was the INS. He shook his head yes. Since he looked like the guy in the ID I learned out the truck and said you dropped this. He patted his back pocket and his jaw dropped. He looked stunned as he opened it and saw all the ID and cash was there. I simply said have good day and drove off. He just started with a holy suit did that just happen look on his face.

Perhaps he recognizes what the dollar is now worth and left it for...

Very cool what you did. Years ago, I dropped my wallet at a gas station full of cash from a vehicle sell that morning with my park ranger shield inside. I traced back my steps and sure enough someone left it with the gas station owner...all intact....they got more than a beer that day.  :smt001
