I had a few encounters myself this year.  The crazy news is that I had some good friends involved in a shark tagging project here on the Sonoma/Marin coast a few weeks ago.  They tagged something like 20 GWS and most were at the Islands, but, they tagged 3 off Tomales Pt and 1 was over 20 ft.  Then this guy gets bit.  It's not rocket science.  Fall is a bad time to be in the water at Tomales.  My friend Steve had 2 encounters on Tomales Pt 13 months apart.  One in October and the other the following November.  They don't call it the "shark pit" because it's full of bunnies.

It would be nice to see ALL these sharked tagged with a beacon.....once that is done, simply log on to a site dedicated to this "beacon" and find out if these sharks are in a specific location that you are planning to surf, fish or ab dive :smt002 I remember Jason mentioning something similar to this kind of tagging done at Ano Nuevo - but I believe that the beacons were retrieved after a certain amount of time (the beacons would released themselves from the shark and float up to the surface)

...just like lo-jacks for convicted child molesters.

just an idea :smt001

Great shark pics! Both of them. I still want to touch one, I just dont think they would attack a kayak, very rarely, anyway. I take that chance every time I hit the big blue. I know Id be kicking myself if I didnt have a camera so I can show the pics to JTF! :)

Ben, if you can get yourself attacked, in the next 4 years, bill buys me lunch.

I can show you some good launches @ Ano!

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
