German Brown! Personal best!!!! Didn't get a picture though...

Went to chase stocked trout at Halsey forebay after finishing my smog update class. They had lockjaw so headed home but on the way saw the NID canal was low. Drought cutbacks? Curious so I pulled off and looked at the water and saw BIG TROUT!!! Obviously rainbows, rigged up and tossed lures for a bit but they were smart and would slap it mouth closed and then ignore it.... Knew it was fake then a big dark missile blew up next to the bank and grabbed my lure and Launched skyward! Jumped some 8-10 times before I got it to me and in the creel. 23".... Going back tonight with my camera to try a repeat.... Daughter in law said it was good eating!!! Need to get done with work then I'm there!!! Stand by for pictures this time

Awesome! Get some grasshoppers and you probably will get those rainbows to bite!

  Too old and slow!!! Hot sun= fast hoppers!!!! Probably buy some crickets and meal worms on the way out of town....
