They are super easy to catch in the Sac....... And on a kayak makes it even easier.
You might end up having such a blast slaying shad that you forget about the stripers!

Good luck!
Is the ar shad heating up yet? I need me some shad!

Lol. We been getting shad in the AR since April.....

When I was growing up in Sacramento I tried fly fishing for shad once.  That was just upstream from the Watt Ave. Bridge.  Didn't get a bite, but the guy with a spinning rod next to me caught so many he got bored.  I was so frustrated I never tried again.  Don't even know what to use for them or how to use it.

Easy peasy.  Fly or spin, they are a blast to catch.

2-4 lb test, 1/32 pink jig head, 1 inch champagne grub.
Small split shot.  Bobber if you like, bobber down is best!

Or use an intermediate line, 4 weight, indicator with a Bloody Maria.
Or 6 wt switch, Skagit head, mo tip, etc etc

So many options... So much fun.
Shad are anywhere from 1-3 feet off the bottom..... So get down to get down!
