I would like to hear about some of your stories about your first time joining the Goldie hawn Club. I need a good laugh tonight after work before I share some of mine.

Goldie Hawn club is about her famous movie overboard. I'm sure we've all flipped a kayak over or fallin overboard.

Good clarification ...  that could have been construed in so many ways otherwise

Abb diving in fort brag.

BAD conditions, windy and choppy.  Got my limit of abbs but fought hard for them.  As I got my last abb on the yak I jumped in side saddle and a ghost wave crashed about 3 feet in front of me and pushed my legs down.

Over I went, the boat in suit.   Dumped my entire limit overboard and the anchor trolly hooked my wetsuit when the boat rolled.  The boat was then on top of me, face down, white caps and big swell...

Needless to say, it was frighting.  I ended up having to cut my wetsuit behind my leg while I struggled to catch a breath.  My closest call to date.

Was at Cameron Park lake, a.k.a. Goose Poop pond.  Just caught a bass and was getting ready to take a picture when my camera slipped out of my hands and headed to the bottom.  I had half a second to either reach for it and roll over or let it go.  Needless to say I reached for it and flipped over.  When I came up I had the camera in my hand plus my net, and in the other hand I still had the bass and now a broken fly rod.  Luckily warranty is only 25 bucks and the rod was replaced.

Lesson learned, if it isn't attached to your yak, it better float.  Worse part was there were 1 kayak and 2 float tubes that saw what happened and never came over to help me.  Luckily I didn't need help but it would have been nice.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

I've got one that happened last month to fuzz...

We were paddling together in some serious slop North of Noyo harbor.

He was in his light scupper pro and I was in my Kraken...

I was ahead of him and stopped and was looking at the waves booming on the shore...

He was looking at his GPS in his lap and paddling forward and rammed right into me!

All I felt was a thunk and heard a splash, and looked back to see the scupper pro was upside down and fuzz was in the drink.

 :smt005 :smt044

Luckily all his stuff was secure so no biggie.

Closest I've come was in my sit-in in front of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  I was playing in the 'rock garden' darting between rocks with the swell & managed to wind up being lifted on a swell & set down in a bit of a tide pool.  Had to wait out several swells before I could catch one & slip back into the water.  One of those 'shake my head' moments with lots of onlookers above from the deck of the aquarium.  Total Noob move!
