Anyone have any recommendations on a measuring decal to be put on a paddle? Ive seen some on amazon, but would like some input from you guys on here about what works the best.

Looking for durable, accurate, seamless, ease of application.  My paddle is a 2pc btw.

I know they have "angler" specialized paddles that already have that feature, but for now i don't want to buy a new paddle.

Right now i working with a tape measure that i have to pull out and put away everytime, and im sure itll corrode very fast after a few saltwater outings.

I dont want to carry around a hog trough either. Im just the kind of guy that doesnt like to haul around too many things when fishing, especially tackle, i just keep one small waterproof "amobox" plano and just want to work with what i have.  I almost don't want to bring a net. Also to mention, i have a perception pescador 12, so it doesn't have much space to carry stuff.

Any tips, recommendations are all appreciated.

If you want to go really simple, just use a sharpie on your kayak, and mark some digits like 12" 18" 22" 24" and you are pretty much set for most species.

I was looking for the same thing the other day. Walmart had something like this one but it was blue and wider.

I mark my net handle and paddle with tap at 18 22 24...works pretty well, a sticker would just make it too easy lol

I did the marking on my gaff..  even used a measuring tape.

It works fine but got corroded.   The one big issue I fine is that if you happen to hook a ling and it is very close to 22" like 21.8".  You will have to remeasure over and over.

Or it can be exactly 22" and you would have to measure over and over. To make sure its not undersized.

All this while the kayak is rocking and fish flopping around.

I don't like carrying extra things either.   But I broke down and bought a hog trough.  At least the fish will lay down comfortably for a few seconds while I measure.

Sharpie pen works fine. and if you don't like where you put the Sharpie marks scribble it out and rub off with your finger while it's still wet. I usually put scratches in the kayak also and start off with something like a cup holder to measure from

The Walmart one is made by mustard. It works great. But why put it on your kayak paddle?   Why not put it in your kayak?

When I'm fishing, I'm normally not holding my paddle. When you land the fish buy gaff or fishing net you can just hold the fish on your boat and not have to grab your paddle, holding both fish and paddle.

Sharpie marks are not "approved" fish measuring devices.  A friend got a $500 ticket because he was 1/8" short on his fish that he used a sharpie mark to measure...

$3 tape is worth not second guessing that mark

I myself fish out of a Hobie kayak so many hand isn't always on a paddle. put the marks slightly bigger than then measuring tape. fish measuring board is one more thing you have to worry about losing when you do the Goldie Hawn. I never take Clanker abalone either as I don't want the shell chipping and to see that hefty fine.

I also like to hauls around less stuff but remember you are supposed to have a net while fishing in the ocean. 18" minimum I believe

Another vote for the Sharpie marks... I have a few key markings (20", 22", 24") marked on rods, kayak, net handle, etc... If a fish is too close to make a CONFIDENT call, I just release it. As for the 12" and 15" limit fish (greenling and cabby), I just visually make sure they are well over their required sizes if I'm gonna keep them. I don't see any need to keep a 12" greenling or a 15" cab.

Just make sure you put something on it that floats.  Those sink real fast, I know!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Ended up getting a rod sticker thing from west marine for $3.99. Measures up to 30inches. Pretty low-profile. Now to see how long it will last in the water.
