More details to follow but I hooked a 8# 15OZ - 24 inch rainbow trout  casting a storm minnow swin bait near the launch site. No stripers boated for me but others  had luck with live minnows. Great to see everyone today. It was a great day on the water.

I had a lot  of fun today my score is 1 24in trout 1 26in trout 1 18inch trout  1 striper at 25 and 1 striper at 24 the trout were way fat I hope the pictures come out

Good meeting everyone today.  Thanks for the bait James...I caught one striper with it, about 24".  I should have spent a little more time looking for the trout but I had a pretty good time looking for the second striper.

The wind picked up around noon.

Those big trout are cool, but I can't get past the beat up tail.  I wish they came out of the hatchery in a little better physical condition.

Got to a late start - saw a flotilla of yaks around the ramp - nice to finally meet Angel, Frank and Pat  (and another fella on a Tarpon - sorry, forgot your name) And it was good to see some of the fellas I have not seen for a while - Scott,James and Ark.

I fished the ramp for a while - no joy there but got to see Scott land a monster trout on a lure (gotta love getting ANY fish on a lure ) Decided to see what was happening on the Dam so Dan (da lurker) and I made our way against the wind. On the way, I picked up a 14.5 inch SMB. We get to the dam and fished for about 20 minutes. We were marking fish between 60 to 80 ft. of water - as we drifted our minnows deep. It did not look promising so we made our way back. Frank and James were still there so I hung out with the posse....caught and released a small striper by the ramp and that was about it.

The conditions were great and so was the company

Here are the details. Launched at 7;30 AM with Frankfishing, KayakJames and Pat R. It was pretty cold around 40 degrees but sunny and no wind. Trolled the launch areas with rapalas with no luck. Hooked up with Frankfishing, Dan and KayakJames who were fishing live minnows just south of the launch ramp. Dan hooked the first striper of the day on a live minnow (see picture). Switched to fan casting the launch area with a Storm minnow swim bait and hooked a striper which I lost at the boat . Cast out 2-3 more times and hooked the monster trout on the same swim bait  . Things slowed down at the launch ramp when Mooch showed up around 8:30 AM, so I decided to troll north towards the narrows. About ¼ mile north of the ramp I hooked another monster trout on a trolled rapala jointed F7 (rainbow trout pattern). Brought it on board but it jumped back in the water when I was putting it on my game clip . Ironically, Dan was trolling about 50 yards behind me and netted the trout I lost (CNRC). Hope he enjoyed the meal, looked to be about 20 inches and 5-6 pounds. Of course he rubbed it in on the VHF. Headed up the narrows to the dam around 11 AM but didn’t stay long because the wind picked up to about 5 knots. Headed back to the launch site where I ran into Frankfishing and we talked about the good old days at college and the Bean Hollow adventure. I filleted the trout out which looked more like a steelhead and cooked it using the Chardonnay Trout recipe which I will post later today. It was fantastic and enough fillets left over for another meal tonight. Still no luck for me and the elusive SB. May have to break down and fish bait. It was great to see all of the kayak anglers out there. Looked like 6-10 or more almost outnumbered the PB’s.
