I am very excited for this event. My family has had a house in the town of Mendocino since before I was born. Ill be staying at the house but of course will bringing plenty of food for the potluck. I'm pretty new to Kayak angling so will looking for anyone to take me under their wing.  I do have a dry suit and safety gear. Super excited.

Albion was my first kayak tourney I entered a few years ago and I met so many great people and consider some close friends now. I'll be in one of the rental trailers starting Thursday so swing by and have a beer with me and we'll go out and catch some fish or have fun trying.

Good call Craig - I'm all for getting back to the fish-n-chill, fish hard-have fun spirit at the roots of NCKA gatherings
Agreed... Looking forward to showing off and sharing our camp grub with everyone at the potluck. The cash thing does things to people, myself not exempted... brings out the "gotta win" side that I'm not all that comfortable with. Gonna play for fun :kick
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I loved it last yr. It was my first and I brought food. I Love to carry my end of a deal plus extra. If any help is needed please don't be afraid to ask. I'll ask you Craig if I can help some where. My wife liked Spooners so that is where our camp will be. Site 33 same as last years. I can't dive due to physical conditions so I can't provide Abalone. But I will find something I'm sure. So I'm sending my fee's tomorrow so you can plan. I have never placed in a tournament and do not care if I win anything. If I get lucky so be it. I feel I won just by being there.

I do not know what schooners policy is I have spot 33 that should have room for a tent. I know it isn't at the main camp ground but it is quite if you like to get away from the noise. If you like the Noise walk down there and come back. That is the best I can do. There were tents and trailers in the same sight last yr. So I guess it is ok. So far just me the wife and maybe the granddaughter.

Which brings up the question: is G-Whiz going to stage another BBQ judging competition?

I'm all about the "chill"! love the chance to fish and but to me, it's not all about the tourney; I just love to hang with my bros!

I love cooking in the outdoors, seeing friends chilling around the camp and having a good time enjoying the company of good friends. This is why I attend... and that's the reason for the BBQ cook-off (and to take care of those helping with the event)!

So, yes... I will be having another challenge this year, Friday before the event....  this year's cut has not been decided, but will determine as the event draws closer.....   GB2, I got my eye on you!!!

This year, the HAC camp is directly across from the event area, trail cams will be watching you at potluck time! :smt044

Craig... thanks for all your hard work!!!!

Our tournaments are not democratic--they are autocratic.   The members running these tournaments are free to do what they want.  They freely give hours of their time, and their family's time also.     If you don't agree with how the event is run, you are free to run your own event.  Now is not the time to start complaining or causing consternation.  Come and enjoy your fellow kayakers and laugh while you can.
