any tips or links for how-to's?

Going to Rio Vista this weekend and fishing with family from the shore for striper. They use dead bait for this and a 5oz slider weight. Ive never done it so need tips so I can try n kick some butt. I asked about a double hook set-up and was told they don't do it, but they have only gone a couple of times so don't know about 2 hooks.

Carolina rig, sliding sinker 4-6 oz depending on current... Bait runner reel prefer shimano oc ... Set the rear drag kind of loose with the lever on So the bait drifts with the current.... Kinda like trolling. Tick' tick' Tick' Fish on... Prefer live bait shad, bullhead, mudsuckers . Or go old school n drop down rig it.

Use shad or pile worms, or lamprey eel. Been getting stripers in rio on lamprey while sturgeon fishing. No need for brine or colors.

I've tried brining and the meat does hold together better, but not really worth all the hassle when I'm buying bags of anchovies or sardines.. I'd recommend bringing some worms and toss 1 rod out, about 10-15ft, with a small hook and worm for bait fish.. I've caught mudsuckers out there and just toss them back out on a bigger hook waiting for the big ones to come by. Live bait is the best, 90% of what takes that is a big one.. left the frozen bait for my 2nd to play with all the shakers..

Just go live bait or even 2/0 circle hook with grass shrimp. Stripers are easy just a matter of where n when... Tides are key.
