Hey all. I was checking to see if anyone was familiar with Kent Lake in the Tamapais watershed. I'm trying to get back into fishing LMB but currently life has a bunch on my plate and squeezing in water time can be tricky for me. I haven't gathered too much info from my research. Seems like the best access is off Sir Francis Drake? Where would I park there. I did a drive by yesterday but wife was co pilot and more interested in date night. Looked like I saw a small parking lot by the bridge. It was hard to tell. Are there any other access points at the south east end of the lake through Alpine? Is that route a good long hike? I assume kayaks are not allowed in Kent but I had a buddy that said he had seen one before. Just trying to gather info so that I can be on the water sooner and not have to do all the recon myself. Any info would be appreciated.

Kent lake is intriguing.  It holds some large resident , former steelhead among other things.  No floatation devices or boats allowed.  The hike from alpine is down and a long way up, and it puts you at the shallow end of the lake which can be interesting for spawning rainbows in the inlet on rainy years in spring, but with these conditions I have no idea.  After that, the dam end is deeper and better.
It was never red hot when I was in there, but it is serene and there is hardly ever anyone else there.

Thanks for the info Alcim. As far as access off Sir Francis Drake, where were you parking your vehicle?

Parking is time limited at the lot on SFD, You can park up the road in Lagunites, but its a hike. If you have a Mt bike, thats the way to do it, park at Alpine dam and ride the few miles, its mostly flat. Or ride from Lagunites. Lot of smallies at Kent too.

Thanks guitarzan. I was thinking that a bike would be a good option.
