My Dad, Steve Werlin and I met Dan and we went up to Salt Point for a little N. Coast Trifecta.  We spent the day for about 3 dozen porcini, limits of abs and some nice blues and blacks.  It was a beautiful day on the north coast.  20 ft. vis nice calm conditions at Fisk Mill for diving.  What a day.

Dave,
Were you at the South Cove in Fisk Mill? I was there to finish up my ab card and there were quite a few people out. Are you the group that stayed on the north end of that cove (4 or 5 people) and dove just in front of the big rock?
I was on an orange-colored boogie board. I swam south quite a way out and finished my last 2 9" abs. Only saw greenlings and perch which I don't shoot. Then took a walk in the woods, found some bolete but they seem to be small so I left them there. Seems you really got the spots down.

There were only 2 of us diving.  We parked up at the euc trees past fish mill cove park and didn't even get in the water until 3 pm.  There is a huge couple of schools of blues hanging out in the kelp up on the N. side of the cove.  We dove just inside the N. end of the cove.  I think this is going to be an epic couple of weeks for boletes.

Ok, you were at the north Fisk Mill. That spot has a lot of fish but the abs seem to be small.
Saw this one while walking in the woods.

I guess that's it. It's massive and grown on a redwood tree stump. Looking from far away, I first thought someone had left his blaze-orange hat there!

Mushroom season is upon us.

Time to check out my oyster mushroom trees on campus and look for chantrelles under the oaks.

I hit my in town oyster spots and they were just getting started.  I think after this weekends big rain we should be into the shrooms big time.  The cold weather we have had up here should be helping the chantarelles to get going too.  Seems like a cold snap always kicks them off.
