So you may have heard that California is experiencing a drought. Well, we are in a state of "exceptional" drought according to the experts. The attached picture is of Folsom Lake nearby to where I live to give you some perspective. The governor of California has made it mandatory to reduce water use by 25 % beginning immediately.
I plan on doing my share in the following manner...
My drink of choice is scotch and water with several ice cubes. Now it will be scotch with a single cube.
Wine... It takes approximately 160 gallons of water to produce a bottle of wine. Beginning today I will stop drinking California wines and begin consuming French and Italian wines instead.
These are sacrifices I know but we must pull together and do our share! I plan on saving a lot of water. :smt001
Here's mud in your eye... albeit 25% drier mud.
When the lakes and rivers are full the trout will walk the earth.

I agree we are in a serious drought. But these two pics you are showing are not the current state of Folsom Lake.  I was out there this week and it is closer to the pic on the left than the one on the right.

Hi Rider, just trying to make a point with some humor added, hope this all ends soon, but I'm afraid its gonna get worse before it gets better...

Just back from DC.  In solidarity with California's water woes, Washington has drained the Lincolm Memorial Reflection Pool.  never saw that before. . .

Here's what I don't get. I have let my landscaping die over a year ago,  upgraded my washing machine to a less water use version(dish and clothes). Educated my children to conserve water....and NOW I have a mandatory 25 percent reduction? How am I ever gonna reduce 25 percent more when my household has been in conserve mode for over a year.

Beef. It's the elephant in the room that nobody wants to face, but the fact is that beef is one the most (if not the most) water-intensive foods we eat. ~2500 gallons to grow a pound of beef. Take your showers, drink your wine, even water your lawn, but if you truly want to make the biggest difference you can, reduce your beef-eating.

May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Darn no more beer.

So here's my plan....
1. Eat only fish cause those mofo's use more water than any on the list.
2. Pee in my yard, no flush and waters lawn, win win.

My lawns/landscape has not been watered in a couple of years here at the business park. I wish there was a way to collect all the water running in the curbs from all the other businesses who water daily it seems. I do "water" the trees out back when no one is looking...saves on flushing.  :smt002

True, but most people don't eat almonds n the same quantities as they do meat.

It's supposed to rain Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I hop it's enough to put some usable water in the rain barrels I installed last week!
