Yak-A-Bass will be holding our first fish n chill at
Tiki Lagoon on April 19th. This will be a free event for like minded kayak bass fishing enthusiasts. We will meet @ 6:30 am and be on the water no later then 7:00 am. All dfg rules apply!!!!! we will be conducting this as a tournament format so those looking to try competing for fun against fellow anglers are able to do this. We will finish the day at the launch site at 3 pm. Giving our anglers 8 hours on the water to get the best 3 fish possible. This will be a catch photo release event. After the event please have your score card that will be provided filled out and we will check the top 5 anglers photos for accuracy. Round down to the nearest ¼ inch to make things easy. This is a free and fun event for those looking to try there hand at bass fishing from a kayak, feel free to bring your family and friends. Hang out and fish and afterwards stay around for a little off the water discussion on what we all used what worked what didnt and also help plan our next event, we listen to our members and majority rules!! all upcoming events will be voted by the anglers of the previous months event for time and place. And if we want to move into 100% payout tournaments in the future and how we want to grow our fun little club. We look forward to seeing you and cant wait to hit the water. Tight lines and good luck!

Feel free to join us on Facebook and currently working on our website. All results will be tallied and posted within 24 hours of completion.  Thanks for the interest and any questions feel free to post up. Possibly looking into a potluck afterwards will post up with more info with the info of any anglers who want to come fish with us. Thanks -James

This group is centered around black bass.  Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass only.  We'll be fishing the delta though so it'll primarily be largemouth.  If the members vote to fish some other locations then some of the other species (smallmouth and spotted bass) may come into play.

Anyone interested that has questions please feel free to ask them.  This group has been put together for anglers of all experience levels.  We are looking to get folks together to for fun fishing events with plenty of tips and tactics shared before and after the event to assure everyone catches fish and walks away having learned something.

I'm excited to see this group grow and hope to see some of you guys out there!

This will be a fun event.  I'll be there.  The Yak-a-Bass Club is like a bass boat fishing club.  Tips and techniques, get-togethers, and a couple tournaments each year perhaps.  Low key, and all levels of bass fishing experience are welcome.

Hope to see a few other of the NCKA bass fisherman out there.

Sorry, we didn't get much interest from the NCKA crowd so I didn't write anything up.

A few pics from our first ever Yak-A-Bass Norcal Fish and Chill event held at Tiki Lagun Resort and Marina on the California Delta.  We had 18 anglers show up and another hand full of family members that joined us for the cook out afterward.

The day started off with Bryan Buterbaugh giving some tips and tricks on fishing wacky rigged stick baits followed by a little casting contest with the top three most accurate anglers winning a bag of Gary Yamamoto Senkos before everyone hit the water.

The weather was a little windy and cool but warmed up as the day went on.  Boat traffic kept things interesting and the water was pretty stained which made the fishing a little challenging.  Finding clean water was the key for me today but many anglers found success tossing cranks along the rip rap.  I junk fished and caught fish on stick baits, swimming flukes, spinnerbaits, and lipless cranks.

A big thanks to Justin Senior for manning the grill and cooking lunch for everyone when we returned to the ramp around 3pm. Big fish honors for the day went to Justin Martin Del Campo Jr. catching his personal best fish of 21.5"!

Looking forward to our next event on May 16th out of Sugar Barge Marina on Bethel Island back in the Delta!!!

Those are just a handful of pics that I grabbed from the Yak-A-Bass NorCal Facebook page. There are plenty more floating around.  Overall there were some really nice fish caught with several in the 20" plus range.  We are looking forward to getting together again next month.

The plan is to have monthly fish and chills with the competition being for bragging rights at each months event as well as having the top "scoring" angler choose the location for the following months event.  We are planning two actual tournaments (July and October) this year with monetary prizes but they will be low key with more of an emphasis put on having fun with friends rather than hardcore competition.  We have some interesting format ideas being worked on to give everyone of all experience levels a chance to compete and win.  The details are being ironed out and it looks like this little group has a lot of potential to be pretty great!!

Looks like an awesome event.  I think there wasn't much response because of timing.  It was a busy weekend with multiple events, RCG opening recently, etc.

Keep posting up events!  I hope to attend one in the future.

We will definitely announce the next one again when the time gets closer.  It's currently scheduled for Saturday May 16th at Sugar Barge on Bethel Island/Franks Tract.  The plan is to have our events on the third weekend of each month and they will alternate between Saturday's and Sunday's so that people with weekend obligations will have a chance to come to events.  Some people have church on Sunday or other weekend plans so those folks would be able to join us at least every other month.
