the secret to fighting the "Banana Bend" is to wrap the tubing around the shaft before you apply the tension...It also seems to make it easier to hold tension.

I also added lead to the tip of my fiberglass pole spear while making the paralyzer tip to help add punch.

Very easy to make....esp if you have a Tap Plastics nearby and have some basic rodbuilding skills.

I have a 6' 1 piece Fiberglass, a 6' 2 piece aluminum with a detachable 2 flapper head (slip tip style), and a 2 piece 8' carbon fiber that needs some final design tweaking before it gets wet.

Try two bands instead of one. It really makes a huge difference with the impact force on a fish. And of course sharpen your tips before diving. Get a payalzer tip with barbs to hold the fish.
