The glass/graphite models were very durable.  The all graphite models had quality issues and would occasionally break.

It was an elegant solution, just ahead of its time.  QC issues combined with small market and they didnt sell. So they were discontinued.

Surprising other rod makers havent got all over the baidarka idea

Monday I'll try to hit up the local foam shop and see what they have

You'd think so but over the years most tackle manufactures have abandon kayak specific products.  Shimano tried with its bait tank (which was a GREAT product) and had the same results as the Baidarka...sales flop.

Generally speaking kayak fisherman are CHEAP bastards compared to other segments, so we don't get a lot of love.

Aww, I dunno whether to be offended or proud. All in all we are a pretty ingenious group, tho.
