Came across this guy Duane's free plans and instructions (lots of pictures) for making make a really light, strong kayak fishing paddle in a weekend.

You guys think the idea is worth it?

Only thing I don't like is the wood.  I like the composit handles.  I think the wood is like a baseball bat.  You hit the ball in the sweet spot it will go a mile.  If not you will have two rubber raft paddles to craw home with.
