I know a lot of you use Plano marine boxes instead of crate type setups. It just so happens big 5 has the 1312 on sale for $10. Is that the size your using or should I be looking at the 1612?

If you want to mount rod holders, you're going to need the 1612.

Just comes down to how much junk you bring with you.  I filled a milk crate full my first time.  Now I have a little plano tackle tray at most.

Thanks guys. I'm looking to haul less but want the rod holders. So I will check on the 1612.

I use the bigger one 1812 now because it fits the Hobie well perfectly, but the smaller one 1612 worked just fine on my P-15.  Four single rod holders from Hook One on each one.

1612 is large.  1812 is xlarge.  1312 is small.  Im sure everyone already knows that.

I bought the 1612 from amazon. For about 13ish bucks shipped.   I have not used it yet.  But everything i think i Would need for rock fishing fits with extra room.

I would also carry a 10x6 plano tray that i have to store my lures, plastics, hooks, and shrivels.   That would be strapped infront of my seat.

Imma try to keep things as simple as possible.  1 rod and one 2 piece in the hull as backup.

The 1612 is a good size.  I dont think i would want a smaller one.  A larger one would kind of defeats the purpose.  I would as well use the milk crate.  .

Most people use the 1612 with 3 rod holders. The 1612 is plenty big for a day of kayak fishing. If you have a prowler or trident, check this out:

Those plano boxes last forever. I have one that I have used for over 10 years.

Thanks for the insight fellas.
I couldn't find the Plano so went with the flambeau box. I also tried to use totes mount but couldn't get it tight so I picked up these little stainless turnbuckles.
