Was up at Caspar camping and did my first spearfishing dive. DG and I had been talking leading up to the weekend and he came down to dive with me and a friend. We tried an area DG hadn't tried before and it was a pretty easy launch off some sheltered rocks. DG went out to the deeper water and Sean and I stayed in the sheltered cove. The vis was amazing 15-20' I think.

After a few minutes I found some perch and took a shot missing the fish (ROOKIE). Reloaded the gun which was fun doing the first time underwater then kicked around and found a couple more perch and dove down, lined it up, squeezed the trigger, & stuck my first fish. A huge 12" perch. Saw lots of abalone and some huge uni. I pulled a couple uni and shot a total of 3 perch and 1 greenling to 15.25". I tried to go out towards the mouth of the cove where DG said he saw a couple Lings but it was pretty choppy out there so I went back into the cove.

The conditions were better to dive on Sunday damnit.

All in all it was a great experience and DG was cool to spend some time hunting with you.

It was nice diving with you and Sean.  Since I forgot my towel and still had my bottoms on I didn't even make it home without jumping back in the water.  I hit noyo for a few hours and swam out to the green buoy and saw a couple diving off kayaks then swam back.  I limited on Cabazon and chased some Lings but the surge was strong and it was a no go.  I tried to bring you some Cab but you know how the cell service and wifi only occasionally works and didn't want to leave it without knowing if you actually wanted it.

There's always next time.

Sean was amazed when we got back from the beach his flip flops were there. The next time I see you I have a bottle of wine for you from him. I'm thinking I might go up and dive the 18th at caspar
