Anyone know of an easy launch that is close to the S.F. side of the G.G. bridge?  I want to paddle around to Baker's beach and try for halibut.  An ebb tide should hold the fish there and I want one.

I'm pretty sure baker beach is an easy launch when the swell is down.  I have fished there many times from the beach and it reminds me a lot of Linda Mar, when the swell is reasonable everywhere, it seems to be nothing there (you could ride a blow up raft.)

Because I am not an experienced ocean kayaker yet I hope someone can offer better insight. However I have spent enough days growing up near SF to say that launching inside the bay and then paddling to baker beach will probably be a lot of work if not impossible on some days.

I would rather fish crissy field and the marina green instead.

The easiest way would be to face the waves at Bakers. If you're use to ocean launchings and the swells are small, it's very doable. Baker's is not know as a surfing beach. From the parking lot, it's about 30 yards to the beach.

If you want an easy launch, then launching from Ft. Point would be cool too. We'd just have to time the tides to head out the Gate w/ the ebb tide and ride back w/ the flood and wind.

Let me know when you want to go.

The south end of Chrissy field or Baker in the right conditions  would be the way to go.  You're timing out have to be perfect to be able to launch chrissy, go to baker, and still be able to return to chrissy.  There is good hallie fishing along the chrissy field area too!

baker would be an interesting launch- its almost just a beach break...water drops off fast. I haven't launched there, but have looked at it as a launch site quite a lot.
Another option might be China Beach, if the swells were W or SW.  YOu'd have kinda sucky carry down to the beach, but the waves can be smaller there (just southish of baker).

I have launched from the ramp under the north tower and paddled out to the lighthouse but not gone around the corner on the S.F. side.   I would be willing to try a beach launch if the conditions were right.  Maybe a mid-week trip or next weekend would be good.
