Hey guys,

I'm trying to get my FF set up on the Revo and can't seem to reach the thru hull plug that is on the backside of the seat.  I can't reach it from inside either hatch to take the backing nut off.  Is there some sort of trick to this or do I just need to train a small squirrel to climb inside and take the backing nut off?

Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Bret

I use the middle hatch and put one fingers on the little part that sticks out of the washer and try to turn it. I keep doing this till it gets loose

I couldn't reach in there either on the AI, so I went down to the hardware store got a PVC coupler and found it happened to fit the male end, add a 4" piece of gray irrigation pipe, a thick ass rubber washer on the inside, and i was able to thread the whole thing on. Just thread the ff connection end all the way through, and you should be able to guide it on.

Or find your local simian, or basketball player to help.

Oh shit, the backing but, I just shoved a pair of channel locks in there and jiggled like crazy till it loosened, then pulled the outside end hard and turned it until it came off

On my 2014 I didn't have a problem but I guess the seat mold on the 2015 goes down further.

I was hoping Hobie would have been smart enough to thread that hole so you wouldn't need the backing nut/washer.

I was able to get the backing nut off.  Now for the hard part, putting it back on.   :smt013

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Tilt it at about a 45 degree angle. Reach through the middle hatch you should get to it (pic).  Or place your yak on the floor.  Lie on top, stomach down your face towards the stern and reach into the middle hatch.  That will work too.
No special tools needed.
Or If have a 7 ft. friend with long arms ask for his help.  :smt002

Thanks Mel!  I give that a try, but so far I can;t reach the damn thing.  I gave up for the night but I'll get back at it bright and early.  I must have some short arms.  I made a tool out of PVC to help but I'm going to have to modify it a bit to get it to work, but I'll try your angled technique first.

I'm 6'3" with really long arms and could just barely reach it on my Revo 16.  I was wondering how someone would do it with shorter arms.  Find one of your long lanky friends!

If you were like me, you only needed an inch, the PVC couple was the trick. Worked perfectly in place of the backing but.

Haha, I thought it was only me & my short arm...
I was able to reach it the way Mel described...
As I say on pm, Eric-Texasboy said he took center hatch off.
Good luck!

Longer arms usually does the trick, you should have brought the transducer with you when you picked it up and i could have thrown it in for you!
