I'm looking forward to another go-out at Coyote soon, ever since the paddlefest Derby.  I want to target the leopards again!

Allen,

Been out at least 10 to 12 times Sturgeon on a Yak.  Only  legal Sturgeon I have every got is a 50 lbs with a $50 tag on it.  Party boat fish with 15 or 16 guys and I had the only one.

St rugeon is even more hard then a Halibut.  It is like deer hunting in Cali.

I want a Dino this year, with my newly built KZ acid wraped rod, still need a reel, that Thresher broke my level wind!!!!!

About Shimano urs Avet

Interesting, I really like the 400 Calcutta without the level wind, but I was under the impression that Avet was God.

I have 2 Calcutta's already, never maintain them and there still flawless, think I'll stay with what I know,  thanks.....Danglin

Yeah Danglin,

All Avets, Pro Gears, Accurates and Penns make great Boat reels.  But, they do not like to play with sand & seawater.  Even if you seal them up before you land.  The seawater just in the reel because the kayak is so low will eat away at it.  Need to take theses reels apart after every trip.  Just about.  And a freshwater flush will only help for a little while.  Some guys put them in warm water.  But, that hurts the greased parts.

Danglin,

One thing is about the 400 B it has a weak freespool system.  The first thing to go is this little plastic piece.  Rockcodding you are always checking to see if you are on bottom.

I would get the TE.

Sorry,  Ken Kickfish

Well let's see...hmmmmmm....I went out for the Sturgies four times last year and got zero. With the drive from Placerville it costs me around $100 a pop with gas and bait. Oh yea, forgot about the $320 speeding ticket on the way home one time.  :smt010  So the next time I go out it will be an $820 Sturgie IF I get one..if I don't it will be $920 the next time and so on and so on.
I may need to purchase a lotto ticket if I want to keep this up. Either that or settle for the much smaller local trout or move closer to where the bigguns are. Decisions decisions.
